Digital Desk, Lucknow. The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) located in Varanasi has begun a new course in Hindu studies. According to an official BHU spokesperson, the postgraduate program is the first program that a university offers in the nation. The spokesperson said that it is an academic subject that has been developed in accordance in line with the National Education Policy, 2020. It will be provided at the Center for India Studies in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy and Religion, Department of Sanskrit and Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archeology within the Faculty of Arts.
Prof. VK Shukla, the senior rector, said that the program will open the world up to many aspects that are not well-known about Hinduism and assist in spreading its teachings to a wider audience. An estimated 45 students, including one from outside the country, have been accepted into the first cohort. Centenary’s President Prof. Rakesh Upadhyay stated that the education is essential for instilling eternal values in life.
